The first photo was taken from our hotel room and shows a section of downtown St.John's (Nfld.'s Capitol).........Next was our first glimpse of the fortification on Signal Hill .............We got a laugh out of the Photography Inc. van - smart idea!!
The pic. of the lighthouse was taken from Signal Hill - It's located at the entrance to St.John's Harbour - I zoomed the lighthouse in as it is considerably further away than it appears ..............A photo taken inside the fortification with a very narrow and steep stairwell !!
On December 12th, 1901 Guglielmo Marconi received the very first Trans-Atlantic wireless signal transmitted from Puldru, England to St. John's, Newfoundland a distance of 3,468km/2,150mi - Marconi called the event "The Big Thing"............A very important day in the history of communications!!
The last photo was our first good look at St. John's Harbour - What a history this place has!!
